Celebrating JFK’s Legacy: $2M Raised for The May Dinner

The May Dinner is the Foundation’s annual gala that celebrates the life and legacy of President Kennedy, honors the Profile in Courage Award recipient, and raises critical funds to support the Kennedy Library.

At this year’s dinner 2014 Chair Robert Epstein, CEO/President of Horizon Beverage Group, announced that the Foundation raised over $2 million in unrestricted support for the Kennedy Library’s education and public programs.  The outpouring of support was led by Legacy Laureates Richard K. and Nancy L. Donahue, Robert Epstein, Feinberg Rozen LLP, Clive F. Palmer, and Raytheon Company.

JFK Library Foundation Board Member Conan O’Brien served as MC for the night.  With Caroline Kennedy serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, she was well represented by her son, Jack Schlossberg, who presented the Profile in Courage Award to Mayor Paul Bridges, Former Mayor of Uvalda, Georgia and to Lauren Bush Lauren, President George H. W. Bush’s granddaughter, who accepted the award on his behalf.

As an exclusive surprise for the nearly 500 guests, the Library displayed, for one night only, President Kennedy’s golf cart.  This unique artifact represents just one example of the treasures housed in the Kennedy Library Archives.  Kennedy family members shared fond memories of their time with the President when the golf cart served as their primary mode of transportation during vacations on Cape Cod.
