BOSTON—The John F. Kennedy Library and Museum announced today a number of free entertainment opportunities for children and families this holiday season.

Free admission to Museum exhibit

The Museum’s special exhibit “From the World to the White House: Caroline Kennedy’s Doll Collection (1961-63)” opens November 13th with admission free for children 12 and under and half-price for children ages 13-17. The international doll collection includes more than 75 dolls from 31 countries, some of which were state gifts from foreign leaders and first ladies. The doll collection will be displayed next to the Museum’s space exhibit, which includes an actual space suit, footage of lift-off of John Glenn historic orbital flight around the Earth, and other space exploration artifacts.

Free children’s performances

Two free performances, as part of the Library’s ongoing Celebrate! Children’s programming, are also scheduled for children and their parents in November and December. On Friday, November 28, at 10:30 a.m., Gould and Stearns will perform Simple Gifts: Stories for a Wintry Day, and on Tuesday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m. the Angkor Dance Troup will perform traditional Asian folk dances. Both performances last an hour, and adults must accompany children. For more information, call (617) 514-1646.

Sundaes on Saturdays at the JFK

On two Saturdays in November (15th and 29th) and the four Saturdays in December, children can make their own sundaes in the Museum’s Pavilion at an ice-cream sundae smorgasbord. The cost for children ages 12 and under is $5.00; for older children (ages 13-17) and adults, the cost is $7.00.
