This sculpture is a heroic sized bust of Chief Standing Bear, who asked the sculptor to create the mountain carving memorial to Crazy Horse. The carving is a realistic rendering of the Oglala Lakota chief, with his hair sweeping across the right side of his face and wearing one feather at the back of his head.
