A full length collarless ivory silk coat with three-quarter length sleeves (model 3378). This coat has minimal seams and a plain front. With this magnificent opera coat Givenchy paid homage to his mentor Balenciaga by manipulating a great sweep of fabric (double the weight of the used for the matching dress) with a minimum of seams.
This coat was worn by Jacqueline Kennedy to dinner at Versailles, France, June 1, 1961. Also worn to a dinner hosted by Ambassador John Kenneth Galbraith, US Embassy, New Delhi, India, March 20, 1962.
