This file contains memoranda regarding a commitment made by the United States to provide Polaris submarines to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), control and sharing of nuclear weapons in Europe, the transmittal of atomic weapons information to NATO, and U.S. support of NADGE (NATO Air Defense Ground Environment). Of note is a paper titled, "A European Nuclear Strike Force," by Colonel L.J. Legere, National Security Council staff member on military policy and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
