Kennedy, Chairman of the Special Committee on the Senate Reception Room, recommending portraits of five United States Senators be placed in the Senate Reception Room: Henry Clay of Kentucky, Daniel Webster of Massachusetts, John C. Calhoun of South Carolina, Robert M. La Follette of Wisconsin, and Robert A. Taft of Ohio.
