Materials in this folder include telegrams, memoranda, a petition sent to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy demanding the elimination of racially motivated legal intimidation, and correspondence between various members of the White House staff and individual citizens concerning the presence of Italian Americans within the Democratic National Committee, President John F. Kennedy’s administration’s accomplishments in the field of civil rights, commemorative events for the 100th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, the activities of the President’s Committee for Equal Employment Opportunity, and a policy prohibiting separate funeral and burial service contracts for veterans of different races.
