15 July 1960

Kennedy's full acceptance speech at the 1960 Democratic National Convention at the Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, California. This film reel covers 11:00-11:25 P.M. on July 15, 1960. The speech later became known as "The New Frontier." In his remarks, then Senator Kennedy famously states, "The New Frontier of which I speak is not a set of promises-- it is a set of challenges. It sums up not what I intend to offer the American people, but what I intend to ask of them." Copyright for this excerpt is held by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
