Sculpture of a bronze figure of a discus thrower on a wooden base. This sculpture was presented by American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation to President John F. Kennedy in 1963. A brass plate engraved on base reads: To John Fitzgerald Kennedy, President of the Unites States, in appreciation of his distinguished leadership in improving the health and fitness of American Youth that they be fit to learn, fit to understand, to grow in grace and stature to fully live.
