Model of the Danish maritime training ship the Danmark. The model has three fully rigged masts and a painted orange-red and white hull. The Danmark was built in 1933 and loaned to the United States during World War II as a training ship for the Coast Guard Academy. The ship was returned to Denmark in 1945.
This model was presented to President Kennedy by Kirsten Runge in the Oval office during a NY Herald Tribune forum for students to visit the White House on February 15, 1961.
