Abstract
White House Staff Files 1960-1963.
Staff Assistant to the President for Congressional Liaison, member, White House special projects staff (1961-1963). Letters, lists, manifests and diagrams relating to the 1960 Campaign, Presidential and staff travel, White House Tours Reading Files, materials relating to gifts offered to the President and his family, materials dealing with White House Management and special projects, and the 1963 Funeral of President John F. Kennedy.

Biographical Note
John J. McNally, staff assistant to the President for Congressional Liaison.

Collection Overview
The Presidential papers of John F. Kennedy consist of several major bodies of research material. The White House Central Subject File is the principal White House file. The White House Name File contains copies of most incoming correspondence arranged alphabetically by name of correspondent and is cross-referenced to the Subject File. The Chronological File contains copies of documents prepared for the President's signature and is also cross-referenced to the Subject File. The Social File contains the records of the White House Social Office and includes the correspondence of the First Lady. The President's Office File contains the papers maintained by the President's personal secretary for his use. The National Security File contains the records of the staff of the special assistant to the President for national security affairs.

In addition, in what were called in the White House "storage" or "overflow" files are found various miscellaneous materials and the records of the offices of most members of the President's staff. The files described in this finding aid constitute one of the series of White House staff files included in the Presidential papers of John F. Kennedy.

The White House Staff Files of John J. McNally, staff assistant to the President for Congressional Liaison, consists of letters, lists, manifests and diagrams relating to the 1960 Campaign, Presidential and staff travel, White House Tours Reading Files, materials relating to gifts offered to the President and his family, materials dealing with White House Management and special projects, and the 1963 Funeral of President John F. Kennedy. The material is divided into six series. Series 1 is entitled 1960 Presidential Campaign and holds materials detailing travel and campaign logistics. Series 2 is Travel; and it contains material relating to the logistics of travel such as schedules, passenger lists, accommodations for participants, destinations, some speeches and other details. Series 3 contains information on White House Tours, types, schedule, and related correspondence. Series 4 is devoted to Gifts. It is about gifts offered to the first family, policy for acceptance, related correspondence, and a summary of gifts, donors, and whether they are from within the country or from foreign countries. Series 5 is an alphabetical list of White House management functions and special projects. Series 6 contains documents relating to the planning for the funeral of President Kennedy.
