Biographical Note
Sterling M. McMurrin (1914-1996), author, scholar and educational administrator, served as U. S. Commissioner of Education under President John F. Kennedy from 1961 to 1962. While at the University of Utah he was academic vice-president, dean of the graduate school, and a professor of philosophy and history.
