The Personal Papers of Dorothy G. O’Brien (1919-  )

Biographical Note
Dorothy G. O’Brien was active in the Democratic Party, serving as state Chairwoman for the Northern District, Illinois (1959 – 1960) and as a member of the Democratic National Committee from Illinois (1963-1967). She also served as delegate to Democratic National Convention in 1960 and as an alternate delegate in 1980.

Collection Overview
This collection consists of material pertaining to John F. Kennedy’s 1960 presidential campaign. The collection focuses on Kennedy’s 1959 visit to DeKalb County, Illinois and contains notes, correspondence, plans and arrangements made for that trip. The collection also contains newspaper clippings about and campaign literature from the national Kennedy campaign, including microfilmed copies of ‘News about Senator John F. Kennedy” from the National Kennedy for President Committee. In addition, the collection contains general campaign correspondence from Kennedy’s office, including form letters seeking help from campaign volunteers.
