Lawyer, Massachusetts political figure. Governor of Massachusetts (1963-1965); Assistant Director, Office of Emergency Planning (1967-1968); Vice Presidential candidate (1972). Personal and professional papers; includes material on the United States-Mexico Border Development and Friendship Commission, Hubert Humphrey's Presidential campaign (1968), and Massachusetts gubernatorial campaigns.

Collection Overview
The papers of Endicott Peabody document his career in politics, spanning the period from 1948 to 1979. The collection is arranged into seven series: Personal File; Correspondence; Campaigns; Trip File; News clippings; Invitations; and Office of Emergency Planning. The Personal File series contains documents relating to events mostly in Peabody's private life. The bulk of the collection is found in the Campaign series, and documents Peabody’s political campaigns, especially his attempt to gain the Democratic nomination for vice president in 1972. There is also some material collected by Peabody's wife, Toni Peabody, during his campaign and term as governor of Massachusetts. The Trip File series contains material gathered during Endicott Peabody's official visits to Germany, Ireland, Mexico, and Japan. The News clippings series contains newspaper articles about Endicott Peabody from 1944 through 1979. The Invitations series consists of invitations received by Endicott Peabody, from 1957 through 1979. The Office of Emergency Planning series contains material on Endicott Peabody as Assistant Director of the Office of Emergency Planning.

There are also news clippings on Vice President Hubert Humphrey's 1968 trip to Mexico, many of which are from Mexican newspapers and written in Spanish.
