General, U.S. Air Force. Air Force Aide to the President. As the Air Force aide to the President, General Godfrey T. McHugh was responsible for air transportation for the President and Mrs. Kennedy, cabinet officers and other U.S. officials, White House staff, and important foreign dignitaries. In addition, General McHugh kept the President informed of what was happening in his branch of the service. The President also referred matters relating to the Air Force or its responsibilities to General McHugh for action.
