Create a memorable event steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking views.

The Library and Museum has five separate spaces available for rental: Smith Hall, the Dave Powers Room and the Atlantic Room all in the Stephen Smith Center; the Museum Pavilion and the Library Grounds.

The Smith Hall

The Smith Hall, with striking maple-paneling and a fabulous view of the Boston skyline, is perfect for forums, receptions and dinners.

Room Size: 5600 square feet, 67’ by 80’

Availability: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 7 days per week.

Capacity: Forum: 500; Standing reception: 600; Sit-down dinner: 500

The Kennedy Library can be used to accommodate groups of up to 1,000 guests for standing receptions only. Both Smith Hall and the Museum Pavilion must be used. The fee for 600 to 700 guests is $9,000. A charge of $12 per person is assessed for each person over 700.

The Museum Pavilion is available for a 90-minute cocktail reception at an additional fee of $1,500 when used in conjunction with Smith Hall.

The Dave Powers Room

Named for President Kennedy’s Special Assistant and our first Museum Curator, the Dave Powers Room is the ideal setting for smaller meetings and seminars. The room can be set up in theater, classroom or meeting style.

Room Size: 968 square feet, 22’ by 44’

Availability: limited, please call for availability

Capacity: Theater-style: 70, Classroom or meeting-style: 45

The Atlantic Room

The Atlantic Room, also located in the Smith Center, includes a large dramatic painting of stormy seas that was presented to President Kennedy by artist Claus Bergen as a gift.

Room Size: 475 square feet, 19’ by 25’

Availability: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m..  After 5:00 p.m., this space may be rented only in conjunction with Smith Hall.

The Museum Pavilion

The Museum Pavilion is a striking setting for dinners and receptions. The 115-foot high glass-walled space offers spectacular, panoramic views of Boston Harbor and the seas that President Kennedy loved so much.

Room Size: 5800 square feet, 76’ by 76’

Availability: evenings only, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 7 days

Capacity: Sit-down dinner: 350, Standing reception: 600

The Library Grounds

The Library Grounds are available from mid-June to mid-September. This spectacular seaside setting is perfect for New England clambakes and other outdoor events. All outdoor events must be tented. Tenting is not included in grounds fees.

Please contact the special events office for tenting companies. This service is paid directly to the vendor and is not included in the grounds fees. Depending on the needs of your event, additional fees may apply for mechanical and electrical connections.
