Ernest Hemingway Personal Papers

As the primary Hemingway collection at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, the Ernest Hemingway Personal Papers includes Hemingway’s manuscript material, incoming and outgoing correspondence, notebooks, clippings, scrapbooks, and portions of the author’s personal book and object collections.

The finding aid for the Ernest Hemingway Personal Papers debuted in 2015, and catalogs most of these materials at the item level. It is intended to help researchers locate and cite items efficiently and discover materials that may have previously been overlooked. Please note that due to the large size of the file (10 MB), it may take a moment to load. For more information about the finding aid, please see our tips on using the guide to the collection.

We welcome all visitors who may be interested in working with the Ernest Hemingway Personal Papers. There are some use and reproduction policies specific to this collection, so we encourage all potential visitors to contact an archivist in advance of their visit by emailing Kennedy.Library@nara.gov.
