Fred Seegardel sent the photograph with a letter dated June 26, 1963, to Evelyn Lincoln identifying the object as a “small desk set.” The handwritten inscription on the verso of the photograph reads: “23rd of November 1962, To: Lady Evelyn Lincoln, From Fred Seegardel, Munich Germany.”
