Included in the papers are drafts of articles, correspondence, transcripts of interviews, notes and notebooks, research material and newspaper clippings, with the bulk of the material relating to Cannon’s article, "The Kennedy Who Isn’t There," about the life of Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Of note are transcripts of interviews Cannon conducted with John F. Kennedy, Joseph P. Kennedy, and Mrs. Robert F. Kennedy.

According to the deed of gift signed March 2001, copyright of these materials has been retained by the donor for his lifetime. After the donor’s death, all said rights shall pass to the Government of the United States.
