According to the deed of gift signed April 1964, copyright of these materials has been assigned to the United States. Collection Overview
The Personal Papers of Abram Chayes document his political career as a member of The Foreign Economic Policy Task Force and his work on the presidential campaigns of Robert F. Kennedy and George McGovern. The collection is arranged into three series: Series 1. Task Force on Foreign Economic Policy, 1964; Series 2. Robert F. Kennedy Presidential Campaign, 1968; and Series 3. George McGovern Presidential Campaign, 1972. The Task Force series contains research papers and various drafts of the Task Force Report submitted to the President in November of 1964. The Robert F. Kennedy campaign series contains position papers, speeches, drafts of speeches, memoranda and correspondence. The George McGovern campaign series contains position papers, clippings, correspondence, memoranda, speeches, and printed materials focused on foreign affairs.

The series contains research papers and various drafts of the Task Force Report submitted to the President in November of 1964. The files are arranged according to subject and concentrate on the areas of foreign aid, foreign trade, and the international monetary system. All the material in this series dates from 1964.

Arrangement: alphabetical by subject.
Much of this series is comprised of position papers produced by the General Advisory Panel of the McGovern Policy Panels on Foreign Affairs to research and develop issues of international concern. In addition, there are clippings, correspondence, memoranda, speeches, and printed materials. The focus of this series is entirely on foreign affairs. The material has a date span from 1969 to 1973, but almost all the papers are from 1972.
