Boston, MA- The Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library will honor our nation’s war heroes this Veterans Day by giving all United States Veterans free admission to the Museum. Veterans will be given free admission from Veterans Day through Sunday November 13th.

On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th, the JFK Presidential Library and Museum will also present two feature film screenings in the Stephen E. Smith Center. These films are free and open to the public.  At 11:00 a.m. the Kennedy Presidential Library will present a special screening of National Geographic’s “The Search for PT 109.” This National Geographic presentation details Dr. Robert Ballard’s May 2002 expedition to the South Pacific to look for the boat that JFK captained during World War II. At 1:00 p.m., “Run Silent Run Deep” will be shown in the Smith Center. “Run Silent Run Deep” is a thrilling World War II adventure story featuring Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. Gable plays a WWII submarine commander whose single-minded determination for revenge against the destroyer that sunk his previous vessel puts his entire crew in danger. This film was made in 1958, and was directed by Robert Wise. Both of these screenings will be preceded by WWII era film reels.

The Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library features 25 inspiring, multimedia exhibits and period settings from the White House that create a stirring account of President Kennedy’s thousand days in office and offer an exciting “you are there” experience. The Museum’s newest exhibition, “JFK in World War II,” is displayed in the Museum’s theatre lobby. “JFK in World War II” features a large selection of never-before-seen materials from John F. Kennedy’s military service in the U.S. Navy, including one of the actual logbooks from the USS PT 109 and original sketches created by then Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy on his personal stationery to illustrate the collision of PT 109 and the Japanese destroyer Amagiri.
