Replica of the Taj Mahal, with the interior of the base and midsection is fitted for a lightbulb. The replica of the mausoleum is made up of: a plinth, 4 minarets at the corners of the plinth, a middle section with arched doorways on each side, 4 kiosks on the corners of the middle section, and a large dome. The minarets, kiosks, and dome all have finials. The whole replica is decorated in fine detail, in geometric, foliate and calligraphic motifs.
This lamp was presented to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy during her state visit to India, March 11-22, 1962. The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, that was built under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was completed around 1648.
