Materials in this folder include telegrams, memoranda, newspaper articles, and correspondence between Assistant Special Counsel to the President Lee C. White, various members of the White House staff, and individual citizens concerning racially motivated violence, the activities of civil rights advocates in Southern states (often referred to as Freedom Riders), and the relocation of Southern African American families to Northern cities (an initiative known as “reverse freedom rides”).
