Dress and overblouse in slate gray wool jersey with bow at waist.  The overblouse, made popular in America by Jacqueline Kennedy, has a neckline that was cut to stand up and away from the shoulder blades and a deep bias band at the hem that impedes its fall.   The Layering without bulk is achieved by "shrugging" the overblouse over the dress's silk top.

This outfit was worn by Mrs. John F. Kennedy during the 1960 presidential campaign.
