Celebrate Presidents’ Day Week at the JFK Library with
Family-Friendly Activities
- Library’s 7th Annual Family Festival to be held on Monday, February 19th -
BOSTON – The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum offers several family-oriented activities and programs throughout Presidents’ Day week, including its signature Presidents’ Day Family Festival on February 19th featuring presidential storytelling, activities and performances, and two Celebrate! family performing arts programs. The first celebrates the Lunar New Year with Shaw Pong Liu who performs music from China and the second features traditional West African rhythms and music with Benkadi Drum and Dance in honor of African American Heritage Month.
$2 Off Museum Admission with Special Buzzword
In celebration of Presidents’ Day week, the JFK Library will reveal a special buzzword on Facebook and Twitter. Visitors who provide the buzzword upon admission during the week of February 17-24, 2018 will receive $2 off admission prices.
Presidents’ Day Family Festival
Monday, February 19, 2018
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The 7th Annual Presidents’ Day Family Festival’s main activities will kick off at 10:00 a.m. Actors portraying Presidents John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Ulysses Grant will share stories and engage visitors in conversation. Festival-goers can try out hands-on history crafts including building Lincoln’s log cabin and designing Jefferson’s Monticello, making of tricorn or stovepipe hats to wear to meet the guest presidents, and designing maritime scrimshaw and White House china.The Festival will close with a special free concert by the Harvard Din & Tonics, who will perform Kennedy campaign songs and popular music from the 1960s and today.

Special Festival activities are free with paid admission and visitors ages 17 and under are admitted free of charge on Festival day. Regular admission fees apply to all other visitors.
The Harvard Din & Tonics concert is free for all. The Family Festival is especially appropriate for ages 5 and up.
Celebrate! with Shaw Pong Liu – Exploring China

On Saturday, February 17, Shaw Pong Liu performs in honor of the Lunar New Year. From the grasslands of Mongolia to the high mountains of Yunnan, master musician Shaw Pong Liu takes audiences on a dynamic musical journey weaving history, geography, the Mandarin language, and Chinese folk music.
Celebrate! with Benkadi Drum and Dance – African Spirit

On Wednesday, February 21, Benkadi Drum and Dance performs African Spirit in honor of African American Heritage Month. The music group showcases traditional West African rhythms and movements. Benkadi brings a folktale to life with vivid costumes, interpretive dance, and audience participation.
The Celebrate! series, appropriate for family audiences and children ages 5 and up, highlights America’s rich cultural diversity through the arts. This program reflects President and Mrs. Kennedy’s concern for and support of the arts and culture as important components of a democratic society. In order to optimize your comfort and enjoyment, reservations are required for all visitors to this free program. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The JFK Library and Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the exceptions of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The Library is located in the Dorchester section of Boston, off Morrissey Boulevard, next to the campus of the University of Massachusetts/Boston. Parking is free.
