Materials in this folder include letters to various Congressmen regarding budget appropriations for civil defense programs, a memo from Special Assistant to the President Kenneth O'Donnell regarding the Governors' Civil Defense Committee, and press releases by Assistant Secretary of Defense for Civil Defense Steuart Pittman (with handwritten notations by the President) concerning national civil defense readiness measures, including shelters, training programs, and military reserves.
