Physical DescriptionWood and ivory chest carved with rhinoceros and a floral motif. The chest is lined with blue velvet and contained a filigree necklace (MO 74.351.1).
Historical NoteThis chest was given to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy along with a filigree necklace by the Prime Minister of Sudan, El-Ferik Ibrahim Abboud during his State Visit to the White House on October 4, 1961.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift to President and Mrs. Kennedy from El-Ferik Ibrahim Abboud, Prime Minister of Sudan. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1974.
