KFC-049-001
This photograph album, compiled by Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, documents various moments in the lives of the Kennedy family from 1925 to 1928. The gold stamped title on the cover reads, “Photographs.” Photographs capture Rose and her family at their residences in Brookline, Massachusetts, and in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx, New York; at Malcolm Cottage, the home the family rented on Marchant Avenue in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts; at Craigville Beach in Centerville, Massachusetts; at the Toy Town Tavern resort in Winchendon, Massachusetts; and at other locations with family and friends. Also of note are photographs of the Kennedy children posing with a baby elephant at the Hippodrome Theatre in New York City; John F. “Jack” Kennedy dressed in a suit for his First Communion and later for his Confirmation; and Joseph P. “Joe” Kennedy, Jr., and Rosemary Kennedy (sometimes referred to as “Rose” in original captions) dressed for their Confirmations. Other Kennedy family members and friends pictured in photographs include Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr.; Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy (sometimes referred to as “Kak” in original captions); Eunice Kennedy; Patricia “Pat” Kennedy; Robert F. “Bobby/Bob” Kennedy; Joseph, Sr.’s father, Patrick Joseph Kennedy; Rose’s parents, John F. “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald and Mary Josephine Hannon Fitzgerald; Rose’s sister, Agnes Fitzgerald; Rose’s niece, Marion Eunice Fitzgerald, and nephew, John F. “Jack” Fitzgerald (the children of her brother, Thomas A. Fitzgerald); nanny to the Kennedy children, Katherine “Kikoo” Conboy; and family friend, Edward E. Moore. All leaves contain original handwritten captions in white ink, although the handwriting does not belong to Rose and the writer has not been determined. This photograph album contains 220 photographic prints, five photographic postcards, and two photograph fragments.
