Aerial view of Sandy Point on Prudence Island in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. The lighthouse and surrounding tract of land were inherited by President John F. Kennedy from President Millard Fillmore. The photograph, a letter dated March 16, 1961, and a copy of the original warranty from the "Portsmouth, R.I. According to the warranty, dated May 23, 1851, President Fillmore deeded the tract of land to all his successors, for the use of the United States. The caption on the verso of the photograph reads: "Taken by Jerry Taylor of Newport [Rhode Island] in May, 1956."
