This folder contains additions to the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board’s (FIAB) report to the President on intelligence activities in Cuba (also known as the Killian Report) and includes extracts from the National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC) regarding aerial surveillance of Cuba. Information in the extracts includes the construction of missile equipment, various buildings, and military camps; and detection of vehicles, ships, aircraft, and Soviet Union personnel. Also included in this folder is a review of National Intelligence Estimates (NIE) and Special NIE published prior to the Cuban arms build-up of October 1962 and pertaining to the possibility of Soviet military bases in Cuba.

Also included in this folder is a speech given by Senator Kennedy at the Nationality Building Fund Committee dinner at the International Institute of Gary in Gary, Indiana concerning captive nations in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.

This file consists of letters to President John F. Kennedy containing expressions of and responses to public opinion. Topics include communism, civil service employment, and requests for assistance. Of note is a carbon copy of President Kennedy's response to a letter from 8-year-old Michelle Rochon, of Marine City, Michigan, regarding her concerns that Santa Claus would be killed as a result of nuclear bomb testing conducted by the Soviet Union at the North Pole. In his letter, the President reassures the young girl of Santa's safety.

This folder contains materials collected by the office of President John F. Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, concerning news reports received through wire services. Topics include domestic issues such as unemployment and social services, and international matters such as foreign aid to India, American negotiations with the Laotian government, and the Algerian War (also known as the Algerian War of Independence). The majority of the folder's materials concerns the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the state of Cuba under the leadership of Prime Minister (and eventual President) Fidel Castro, and President Kennedy's conflict with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev.

This folder contains material collected by the office of President John F. Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, concerning the Department of Justice. Materials include a letter to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy from United States Ambassador to Australia William C. Battle, background information on civil rights for a meeting between the President and clergymen, and a summary of progress towards the voluntary desegregation of commercial establishments. Of note is a summary of a meeting between Kennedy and Soviet Ambassador to the United States Anatoliy Dobrynin where Dobrynin gave Kennedy a talking paper for President Kennedy from Soviet Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev.
