Photograph of a pencil drawing by Albert Berghaus titled, "Miss Lane's Reception at the White House," (ca. 1855-1860). The photograph of the drawing accompanies a letter sent to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy by Victor Spark. The original drawing was later given as a gift as part of the White House restoration effort. Verso of the photograph reads: S#3997, A. Berghaus, Miss Lane's Reception at the White House, circa 1855-1860, pencil drawing 6-7/8 x 10-1/8, signed lower left "Berghaus", on the reverse inscribed "All the ladies have on bonnets, cloaks, shawls - gentlemen divested of overcoats - hats in hands. The room is oval and everything is blue and gold: The White House (sketch of a lady half-length)."
