This is a model of the 74 gun French frigate "Pompee", a three-masted ship with full rigging. The bow has a warrior figurehead, a dingy hangs aft. The cannons are run out of their gun ports. The model was crafted by a prisoner of war during the French Revolutionary or Napoleonic wars. Prisoners dried the bones from their meals and then carved them to make ship models. This was a popular pastime from 1775-1825.
