When President Kennedy answers, the operator informs him that the call from Speaker of the United States House of Representatives John W. McCormack of Massachusetts is intended for Special Assistant to the President Kenneth O’Donnell. Item 25A.4 is a brief telephone exchange between an unidentified man and a White House Operator. The unidentified man asks for an outside line. Item 25A.5 is a telephone conversation held on August 6, 1963, between President John F. Kennedy and Special Assistant to the President Claude Desautels. They discuss the integration of African Americans into the federal workforce and plans for a field hearing in Philadelphia. There is a long delay before the conversation, and machine noise follows the conversation. Item 3A.3 is a brief telephone exchange between President John F. Kennedy and David McDonald. President Kennedy states that he is going ahead with Willard Wirtz, referring to his appointment of W. Willard Wirtz to serve as Secretary of Labor. [White House Operator?] announces the call. The recording ends abruptly. Item 3A.4 is a telephone conversation between Press Secretary Pierre Salinger and a White House Operator. Salinger asks the operator to place a call to Cornelius J. (C.J.) Haggerty. Machine noise follows the conversation. Item 3A.5 is a brief telephone exchange between President John F. Kennedy and one or two unidentified speakers. This is badly garbled recording. Item 3A.6 is a telephone conversation between President John F. Kennedy and Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon. They discuss a strategy for dealing with legislators on H.R. 10, the Self-employed Individuals Retirement Act of 1962. The beginning of the recording is very garbled. Item 3A.7 is a brief and fragmentary exchange between operators. The recording includes office noises. Item 3A.8 is a sound recording of part of a conversation between President John F. Kennedy and approximately six unidentified people, possibly including Reverend Billy (William Franklin) Graham and former President Dwight D. Eisenhower. They discuss guerrillas in Colombia. This is not a telephone conversation, but rather a conversation recorded when the telephone was left off the hook. It is a very poor quality recording.
