Kennedy for unpaid compensation and retired naval pay following his death. The bulk of the file consists of General Accounting Office settlement certificates that authorize payment of President Kennedy's monthly salary and expense allowance. While the file was active from 1961 to 1968, it also includes copies of two letters from 1947 pertaining to his Navy benefits.
