Since the Library opened in 1979, visitors have seen original records and artifacts from JFK’s presidency. Now, these priceless historic artifacts will be available online to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

In an unprecedented act recognizing the grave threats to democracy around the world, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation today announced that five individuals will be honored with the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award this year. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, U.S. Congresswoman Liz Cheney, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, and Fulton County, Georgia Election Department Employee Wandrea “Shaye” Moss were each chosen for the courage they’ve shown protecting democracy in the United States and abroad. The slate of honorees includes both Republicans and Democrats and people at the local, state, national, and international level of public service.

Boston MA – President George Washington’s personal copy of the Laws of the United States, First Session 1789, also known as the Acts of Congress, will be on display at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum between May 20 and June 4, 2013. The remarkably well-preserved book includes Washington’s copy of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other legislation passed by the first session of Congress, complete with his personal annotations.
On Friday, February 15, 2008, the Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library will unveil a special display - Presidential Letters: A Selection from JFK’s Historic Collection – which will feature never before seen letters owned by John F. Kennedy, from former Presidents of the United States. This historic collection will be on display throughout Presidents’ Day week, until February 26, 2008. Among the items featured in this display will be four archival replicas of letters written by former Presidents of the United States.
On March 10 and 11, 2006, the nation’s Presidential Libraries and the National Archives will host an unprecedented two-day conference examining the history of the Vietnam War and the American presidency. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum today announced that fifteen letters written by Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway to his close friend Gianfranco Ivancich have been made available to scholars. Hemingway met Ivancich and his sister, Adriana, who became the author’s muse, while visiting Venice in 1949. The letters provide a glimpse into Hemingway’s life in Cuba and his travels around the world.

Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston on April 5 to accept the 2005 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award from Caroline Kennedy and Senator Edward M. Kennedy.

Boston, MA – July 28, 2009 – The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum will mark the anniversary of the August 1943 sinking of President Kennedy’s PT 109 boat by installing in the Museum a piece of “shell money” or “kustom money” given to the Kennedy family by Eroni Kumana, one of the two Solomon Islands natives who helped rescue John F. Kennedy and his PT-109 crew following the boat’s collision with a Japanese destroyer during World War II. The “kustom money” will go on display on August 5, 2009, 66 years after the day that Kumana and Kennedy first met.
Washington, DC. . . The National Archives and Records Administration announced today the appointment of Thomas J. Putnam as Director of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The appointment was made by Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein, who directs the National Archives which includes 11 Presidential Libraries. Mr. Putnam is the fifth director of the John F. Kennedy Library since it was dedicated in 1979. His appointment is effective immediately.

Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum today announced that on April 12, 2013 it will unveil a riveting new exhibit about the thirteen days in October 1962 that brought the world to the edge of thermonuclear war. To the Brink: JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis depicts President Kennedy and his advisers in the throes of deliberation as the United States and the then-Soviet Union stood on the brink of a nuclear standoff. Created jointly by the Kennedy Library and the National Archives and Records Administration, the exhibit premiered at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. last fall. To the Brink is the first special traveling exhibit to be featured in the Kennedy Library’s new 3,000 square foot gallery since the new wing was completed in 2011.
