This file contains copies of Senator John F. Kennedy's speech titled, "Africa -- The Coming Challenge," which describes how the continent is undergoing an economic and social revolution. In this undated address, Senator Kennedy urges the United States and other Western countries to share their knowledge and resources with Africa. He proposes an education development fund to facilitate the exchange of African students and teachers, and an economic development fund through which countries can provide financial assistance and capital.

In his speech the Senator answers nine of the most common questions that he received throughout the campaign. He covers a variety of topics including foreign policy, religion, agriculture, education, the federal budget, and small business. The questions are read by his sisters, Patricia Kennedy Lawford, Jean Kennedy Smith, and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

This folder consists of correspondence between the office of President John F. Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, and journalist and educator Douglass Cater. Materials mainly consist of Cater's views on domestic and foreign affairs, clippings, and letters of a personal nature. Topics include the challenges to public school desegregation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Of note is a copy of a report from Cater to Secretary of State Dean Rusk containing recommendations on how to better coordinate governmental activities in the use of propaganda as political warfare.
