Upon arriving aboard Military Air Transport Service (MATS) airplane at Patrick Air Force Base, astronaut Lieutenant Colonel John H. Glenn, Jr. reunites with his family for the first time since his orbital flight. Lieutenant Colonel Glenn, escorted by Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, traveled to Brevard County, Florida, to attend the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Distinguished Service Medal ceremonies held in his honor at Cape Canaveral.
